Our Graduate Handbook is your go-to resource for understanding the policies, procedures, and expectations of our program. It provides a clear outline of the requirements for earning your M.A./Ph.D. or Ph.D degree and serves as a valuable guide for planning your academic journey.
This Handbook is organized into two sections. Part I provides the general guidelines, policies, and information that apply to all graduate students in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese. Part II outlines the specific requirements and guidelines for each doctoral specialization—Hispanic Literatures, Portuguese and Brazilian Literatures, and Iberian Linguistics—as well as the optional emphases in Applied Linguistics, European Medieval Studies, Feminist Studies, and Translation Studies.
We encourage you to use this handbook regularly as a reference. Following the guidelines will help ensure a smooth and successful graduate experience.
