Latin American Literature, Second Language Acquisition, Translation Theory, and Immigration Studies
Aviva Kana is originally from the San Juan Islands in Washington State. For the past four years she has lived in Portland, Oregon, working in social services and teaching Middle School Spanish. She received her BA from Macalester College in Latin American Studies with Minors in Political Science and Hispanic Studies. She has studied in the United States, Argentina and Brazil. Presently, She is pursuing a PhD in Hispanic Languages and Literature. Her research interests include Latin American Literature, Second Language Acquisition, Translation Theory, and Immigration Studies. Aviva enjoys adventure, challenge, friends and family, urban biking, running and baking.
