In order to foster the interdisciplinary conversation that is leading the Humanities today, we have created a new event called "Guest Seminars".
A Guest Seminar will always bring to our department a double-lecture (one about Spain/Portugal and one about Latin America/Brazil) that celebrates the constant interaction between both sides of the Atlantic.
In this first incarnation of the Guest Seminar we have the honor of welcoming two eminent scholars from the University of Puerto Rico: professors Arturo Echavarría and Luce López-Baralt.
López-Baralt will talk about Cervantes, Christianity and Islam. Echavarría will lecture about the links between Borges and Jewish mysticism.
As you can see, this Guest Seminar combines two hemispheres and three religions in a rich tapestry of influences and intercultural exchanges.
In addition, both Professors will discuss the relations between their scholarship and their own creative work as storytellers (Echavarría) and poets (López-Baralt).
Free food and beverages will be provided between lectures.
Best to all,
